Examining Teenage Labor Laws: Debunking Myths and Challenging Government Control
Teen labor regulation is just one more political game

I think this is a Democrat scheme that is designed to dupe Republicans so that it's only Republicans that will support the measure during the election cycle, only to have Democrats elected and vote for this legislation in 2025.
Meanwhile, my own thoughts are this: child labor laws were designed–or so we've been told–to keep kids out of dangerous work such as mining coal. That's fair enough. But when a teenager wants to be productive, I think it's ludicrous for the law to prevent teenagers from working, especially when we have Hollywood exceptions.
Why does the amount of money the teen makes or the fact that they will be exploited globally suddenly make "work" sacrosanct, but making $12/hr stocking shelves or making food is somehow the work of the Devil?
The slippery slope argument/unintended consequences argument applies here, of course. On the whole, I don't think we're going to be sending kids back down into mines. Why should the government decide who does and doesn't get to make money?
